Sought-after, high-quality supplies hand-selected by our staff.
To grow healthy, green, and red aquatic plants, a balanced supply of light, carbon dioxide (CO2), and nutrients is required. If one of these components is missing, plant growth halts, and opportunistic algae will take over. Choosing the right fertilizer is vital to maintaining the delicate balance of your aquatic ecosystem.
Plants consume nutrients in varying quantities. Macronutrients are nutrients that plants require in large amounts. These include Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K). On the other hand, Micronutrients are trace elements needed in smaller quantities, with Iron (Fe), Magnesium (Mg), and Manganese (Mn) being some of the most critical.
For high-tech planted aquariums (with intense light and CO2), we recommend daily liquid dosing of macro and micro nutrients alternatively. For low-tech setups, a weekly dosage of comprehensive all-in-one liquid fertilizers like ADA Brighty K or APT Complete after water changes is highly effective.
